Cowes Main Beaches Phillip Island

Mussel Rocks and Cowes Main Beach are the only northern facing beaches in Victoria making them ideal for swimming and beach activities.

Description: The golden sheltered sandy beaches are located in Westernport Bay receiving low winds and gentle waves making them popular with families. The beaches at high tide offer excellent swimming, at low tide they offer shallow rocks and tidal flats to explore.  The jetty structure is suitable for fishing and is the departure point for several ferries. West of Mussel Rocks is home to the Cowes Yacht Club. For beach conditions and safety click here.

  • Popular beaches for swimming, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, jet skiing, beach walks, fishing and beach games
  • Amenities – Toilets (including a designated accessible toilet), change rooms and cold water outdoor showers
  • Parking – Sealed car park, disabled car parking spaces available
  • Food - There are many local food stores nearby providing hot and cold food, drinks and coffee.  Barbeque and picnic facilities are also located at Erehwon Point park
  • Access - Via stairs, not suitable for wheelchairs
