Inverloch-Cape Paterson Road,
Australia’s first dinosaur bone, the Cape Paterson Claw, was discovered near Inverloch in 1903. Today, dinosaur dreaming at the Flat Rocks coastal site by Anderson’s Inlet attracts both Australian and International Visitors.
More than 13,000 fossil bones and teeth have been recovered from this one locality since excavations began in 1994. The sedimentary rocks outcropping along the Bass Coast have been dated at approximately 115 million years old.
The Dinosaur Dreaming project is a joint venture between Monash University and Melbourne Museum.
