French Island National Park

French Island National Park is a true paradise. Accessible only by passenger ferry, French Island is a haven of peace and serenity.

Location:  Take the passenger ferry from Cowes or Stony Point across to French Island, the trip takes 10-40 minutes and delivers you to Tankerton Jetty on French Island or Corinella's barge service is a great way to travel by car. The Ranger station is next to the pier.

Description: Home to a diverse range of wildlife and containing environments ranging from mangrove saltmarsh areas to open woodlands. Explore the park at leisure by bike or on foot, using the network of public roads and management tracks. There are whole day, half day and shorter walks and rides starting at Tankerton Foreshore Reserve. Camping within the National Park is only available at the Fairhaven campsite, situated on the west coast foreshore.  The camp-site offers campers the opportunity to stay overnight in an idyllic natural setting.

Booking Conditions: No booking is required for campsites (first in, first-served basis).  No camp fees. Open fires are not permitted at any time as the island’s vegetation is highly combustible. Some water is available but it is not suitable for drinking. There is no rubbish collection at this campground. Dogs and domestic animals are not permitted in the National Park.
