Woolamai Beach Community Native Plants Working Bee and Beach Cleanup Day
Saturday 25th January
The event will begin with a briefing on the day's activities and information on sand dune regeneration and coastal conservation. One session will focus on watering indigenous native vegetation and weeding non-native vegetation (marram grass, sea-splurge and sea-wheat grass), to stabilise the sand dunes, ensuring the coastline's long-term health. In the other session, we’ll have a beach cleanup, collecting litter and debris to protect local wildlife. The event will conclude with information on environmental stewardship, led by experts from Philip Island Nature Parks.
This hands-on initiative is free and open to everyone and aims to enhance environmental awareness, promote sustainability and foster community engagement.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, gloves (various sizes provided if you don't own gardening gloves), sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, a reusable water bottle and a packed lunch.
