Wonthaggi is known for its rich history as well as being the commercial centre of the Bass Coast. You can explore the town’s history at State Coal Mine and then take a stroll around the bustling town centre. With a large range of shops, restaurants and cafes there are plenty of options to choose from while enjoying the town’s historic setting. Take in a movie or a show at the Wonthaggi Union Community Art Centre. If you are in town at midday you will hear the iconic mine whistle, which is now based in the Apex Park.
