Our Sustainable Travel Tips
- Stay on walking tracks to protect plants and wildlife burrows
- Never feed or approach wildlife

- Drive slowly at dawn and dusk when wildlife is most active
- Call Wildlife Victoria at (03) 8400 7300 for advice on injured wildlife
- Use reef-safe sunscreen (available at Newhaven Information Centre)
- Bring a reusable water bottle (refills available at Visitor Centres)
- Carry a keep cup for takeaway coffee—dine in if you forget
- Buy local and Australian-made products
- Use a tote bag for souvenirs to avoid disposable shopping bags
- Take only photos—leave shells, flowers & other natural wonders in our environment
- Always take your rubbish and belongings with you

In 2024, Bass Coast Visitor Centres participated in Ecotourism Australia’s Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard. The scorecard evaluated our sustainability practices, and we achieved a score of 81%. We received valuable feedback from Ecotourism Australia and are committed to improving our score in the next 12 months.
