Wonthaggi & Surrounds Beaches
Explore an incredible 12 kilometre stretch of almost straight coastline from Coal Point near Wonthaggi all the way through to Kilcunda.
Description
This coastal stretch from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda includes beaches such as Cutlers Beach, Williamsons Beach, Baxters Beach and the Mouth of the Powlett River. This coastline is dominated by sandy beaches, but broken up by numerous rocks and reefs - particularly towards Coal Point near Wonthaggi and the mouth of the Powlett River, towards Kilcunda. All the beaches face south-west and receive the full force of the south-westerly winds and waves, meaning there are usually at least 40 rips along the six beaches. Car access is restricted to the Mouth of the Powlett River, Baxters Beach, Williamsons Beach and Kilcunda car parks.

- Access - From these car parks the beaches can be accessed by walking along the designated sand dune paths.
